Meyer Studio Land Architects Selected for Walton Family Foundation Design Excellence Program

Berkeley, CA, January 10, 2022–Meyer Studio Land Architects (MSLA) today announced the firm is one of 31 to be chosen as new members of the Walton Family Foundation Northwest Arkansas Design Excellence Program. The program’s goal is to address potential planning challenges associated with Northwest Arkansas’s rapid growth and to create welcoming public spaces that foster meaningful, shared experiences. Firms that are part of this program have the opportunity to work on new projects supported by the Walton Family Foundation.

“We are thrilled to join such a tremendous group of companies that are part of this innovative program,” said MSLA founder David Meyer. “We share the Foundation’s vision of creating inclusive public spaces that are good for the community, respect the environment, and make meaningful connections with the people who use them.”

“The Design Excellence Program is unique not only in its focus on America’s Heartland but in its ability to shape and strengthen communities through public spaces,” said Jeremy Pate, senior program officer with the Walton Family Foundation’s Home Region Program. “The program’s continued success speaks to the diversity of its talent and its commitment to engaging with those served by its projects.”

MSLA’s selection to this program caps an 18-month period that saw significant recognition for the firm, in particular for its work on Omaha’s Heartwood Preserve, a regional park and greenway system that reimagines climate change infrastructure design and furthers the idea of what a public park can and should be.

MSLA’s work on the Heartwood Preserve has been honored by:

“This recognition is a testament to the passion, vision, and execution of my colleagues at MSLA,” Meyer said. “We are honored to work on a project that is creating a new standard for sustainable design while providing an enduring natural asset for Omaha’s growing community.”
